To share the experiences of d&b audiotechnik innovative products of sound systems and supportive software as well as Neumann’s new digital microphones and studio monitors, d&b audiotechnik (China) Ltd. and Sound Works & Supplies Ltd. launched seminars “d&b Demystifying Audio Workshop & Neumann Digital Microphone Technique” in Hong Kong Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre and Beijing National Theatre of China on 19th May, 2011 and 24th May, 2011 respectively.

One of the honorable guest speakers, Mr. Stefan Goertz, Project Management & Education Manager from d&b audiotechnik GmbH, introduced the usages of d&b audiotechnik R10 Service Software, ArrayCalc software and sound system optimization software. He also introduced the latest d&b audiotechnik white loudspeakers, xS-Series and xA-Series.

The R10 Service software enables the update of multiple amplifiers from a central location via the d&b Remote network and a direct update using the RJ 45 remote port. R10 will search either automatically or on demand for the latest available amplifier firmware and R10 software updates via the Internet. R10 Service software is focused specifically on service and administration issues of a d&b system.

The ArrayCalc software uses a sophisticated mathematical model synthesizing loudspeakers’ wave front with an array of narrowly spaced point sources. Using complex data level distribution is calculated in multiple frequency bands for up to five three-dimensional listening planes. It also calculates resulting dispersion of horizontally arrayed subwoofers at different LF bands and the delay values to achieve desired far-field coverage.

The xS-Series and xA-Series are compact loudspeakers that match subwoofers. Acoustically they produce a consistent neutral sound and coupled with physically discreet mounting hardware, the deployment possibilities are extensive indoors or outdoors. Both Series can be driven by either the D6 or D12 amplifiers that along with the d&b Remote network enables control and monitoring of a large number of system functions or integration into other media environments.

Another guest speaker, Mr. Chen Ziqian, Product Manager from Sennheiser Electronic (Beijing) Co. Ltd. introduced the unprecedented Neumann digital microphone- Solution-D and new Neumann Studio Monitor- KH 120, to the audiences.

With extremely wide dynamic ranges and wide range of new functions through integrated digital signal processing, Solution-D meets the most demanding requirements of professional audio production. With remote control software, Solution-D could also be used to control and monitor all microphone parameters and functions.

Containing new low distortion drivers, large 80+ 80 Wpeak amplifiers and lower non-linear system distortion, KH 120 helps to tackle, mix and master the stage and studios. Moreover, it configures with the stereo and different multichannel systems.

Apart from the valuable sharing, there was a wonderful live performance of a violin, a flute, a male and a female solo at final. This was a good demonstration for d&b audiotechnik loudspeakers and Neumann microphones to reproduce a real and natural sound. During the performances, audiences could compare the sound from loudspeaker with the original source alternately. The seminar was in a great success that all the participants gained a deeper understanding in the latest products of the audio industry- d&b R10 Service Software, ArrayCalc, d&b loudspeakers xS-Series and xA-Series, Neumann digital microphones- Solution-D and Neumann Studio Monitor- KH 120.
