On September 29, 2020, Yamaha announced a new firmware update for the RIVAGE PM series. Since its initial release, the digital mixing system of the RIVAGE PM series has consistently evolved through continuous software enhancements.
The newly released V4.2 firmware version adds support for the Waves WSG-HY128 card. By utilizing Waves SoundGrid-compatible plugins installed on the DSP engine, the WSG-HY128 card provides 128 channels of low-latency audio processing. In addition to the high-quality built-in plugins of the RIVAGE PM system, engineers can now expand their options with a wider selection of award-winning Waves plugins—including reverb, EQ, compressors, limiters, delays, and more—making the RIVAGE PM mixing system a more powerful tool than ever before.
Mick Olesh, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Waves, commented: "We are thrilled to introduce the new Waves WSG-HY128 card for Yamaha's RIVAGE PM series consoles. This integration enables engineers using RIVAGE PM systems to access the extensive Waves plugin ecosystem through SoundGrid technology, significantly expanding their I/O capacity with ultra-low latency. This breakthrough greatly enhances workflow efficiency and creative possibilities."
Motome Tanaka, Marketing and Sales Manager of Yamaha PA, stated: "Yamaha mixing consoles have always been dedicated to delivering clear, direct stage sound to engineers, enabling them to craft their signature sound from the finest source audio. This philosophy remains at the core of the RIVAGE PM series. Plugins play a vital role in shaping any audio profile. Building on Yamaha's longstanding collaboration with Waves Audio, which previously brought SoundGrid technology to digital mixers with MY card slots, we are excited to strengthen our partnership once again through the new WSG-HY128 card for the RIVAGE PM series, integrating exceptional SoundGrid plugins into our flagship digital mixing system."
Yamaha will continue to actively listen to customer feedback and remain dedicated to providing more flexible systems and a comfortable, intuitive mixing environment for all users.
