The Sunbeam Theatre opened to business on the 16th of September, 1972, with a Mandarin narrated documentary. This theatre is popular for all famous Chinese Operas throughout the years; therefore, Hong Kong residents have a Cantonese saying in Hong Kong: “If you want to watch Chinese Opera, Sunbeam is the place you go to!” Also, The Sunbeam Theatre is the “dream performance stage” for all Chinese Opera performers. There is another Cantonese saying about Sunbeam Theatre: “To become one of the top performers, Performing on the stage of Sunbeam theatre is a MUST!”
