As the theatrical industry resumes its conventional operational rhythm, audio engineer Ben Harrison has integrated a Yamaha RIVAGE PM5 digital mixing system into the production of the acclaimed musical "9 to 5", inspired by Dolly Parton's creative legacy. The UK touring production will continue through March 2022, with performances spanning from Inverness to Southampton and Plymouth. This staging incorporates Harrison's completely reimagined sonic architecture.

Ben Harrison, whose extensive portfolio includes productions such as The Desert Queen, Starlight Express, Evita, Fame, Hairspray, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Blood Brothers, has seamlessly integrated his professional past with present by selecting the Yamaha RIVAGE PM5 digital mixing system for this tour. He reflects, "Everything I learned about digital mixing came from my early experience with Yamaha consoles, including the PM1D and PM5D-RH." Harrison adds, "I've been using Yamaha consoles for years—perhaps longer than I should have—but my workflow was built around them. Finally, with the RIVAGE PM5 offering this specific combination of price and features, I now have the opportunity to return to my roots."

One significant advantage Ben highlighted about returning to Yamaha is the elimination of extra equipment. "All the plugins I use are built-in, plus there are numerous new features that enhance the workflow," he explained. "The RIVAGE PM5's dual-engine architecture is a major benefit – the front of house engineer can focus on perfecting the main mix while I work on different channels without interference. I also use the StageMix app on iPad during rehearsals to make adjustments remotely while moving around the auditorium."

This delightful production targets audiences with a taste for adult-oriented humor, telling the story of three female colleagues driven to extreme measures by their sexist and egotistical boss. Featuring music—including the iconic theme song—entirely composed by Dolly Parton, the show has been captivating full houses, with early tour dates receiving enthusiastically positive responses. Ben observes, "It demonstrates just how much the public longs to return to theaters for a thoroughly entertaining night out."
